After the surgery, the eye is usually covered with a bandage, which should remain on the eye for the duration recommended by your doctor. Avoid applying pressure to or rubbing the eye after the surgery. The length of your hospital stay will be communicated to you. If you are being discharged from the hospital, refrain from driving yourself. You can begin eating and taking medications based on the recommendations of the clinical nurse and doctors. Consult your physician before washing your face, taking a bath, lifting heavy objects, performing religious rituals, engaging in sports activities, starting work, or swimming in the sea or pool.
Postoperative Care for Eye Health
The medications provided after the surgery (eye drops, ointments, tablets, syrups, etc.) should be used as recommended by your doctor and for the prescribed duration. Do not change, reduce, or stop taking your medications without consulting your doctor. The person administering eye drops or ointments should wash their hands thoroughly with soap before applying them. When applying the medications, make sure the tip of the dropper or ointment tube does not come into contact with the eyelid, eyelashes, skin, hands, paper, or tissue.
Follow-up appointments will be scheduled for the 1st day, 1st week, and 1st month after the surgery. During this time, the use of eye drops will help with the healing of the eye and protect against infection. Pay careful attention to your doctor’s instructions regarding the postoperative follow-up period and recommendations.
