Prof. Dr. Ilgaz Yalvaç graduated from Ankara University Faculty of Medicine in 1984 and completed his residency at the Ankara Training Hospital Eye Diseases Clinic in 1990.

Continuing his professional and academic development at the international level, Prof. Dr. Yalvaç worked as an observer researcher at the world-renowned Moorfields Eye Hospital in London and the Tennent Institute of Ophthalmology in Glasgow between 1990 and 1991. Subsequently, he completed a fellowship program in the field of glaucoma at the University of Oulu in Finland between 1995 and 1996.

Awarded numerous prestigious scholarships, certificates, and awards throughout his academic career, Prof. Dr. Ilgaz Yalvaç’s prominent achievements include the following:

AFS Scholarship – 1978 CIMO Finland Scholarship – 1996 International Council of Ophthalmology (ICO) Basic Sciences & Optics – 1999 Clinical Sciences – 2000 American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) Achievement Award – 2009 FEBO (Fellow of the European Board of Ophthalmology) – 2015 Chairmanship of the Turkish Glaucoma Society – 2020–2022

Prof. Dr. Ilgaz Yalvaç is particularly known for his academic and scientific studies in the field of glaucoma. To date, he has published a total of 250 scientific articles, 45 of which are international; he has also authored 12 book chapters and served as the editor of 2 books.

Having served as a professor at the Yeditepe University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Ophthalmology between 2007 and 2022, Prof. Dr. Ilgaz Yalvaç currently accepts his patients at his private practice in Istanbul.
